LANDSCAPE PAINTING:
ESSENTIAL CONCEPTS AND TECHNIQUES FOR PLEIN AIR AND STUDIO PRACTICE

Schedule and Events

Sunday, April 26 in Bellevue, Wash. |
12 noon - 2 pm
DEMONSTRATION and BOOK SIGNING at DANIEL SMITH ART SUPPLIES

Daniel Smith Art Supplies | 15112 NE 24th St., Bellevue, WA, 98005

This event will feature a one-hour demonstration on the process of underpainting, a Q & A period, and time for signing books. All too often painters dismiss the underpainting method because they don't fully understand its technical nuance, but it holds valuable lessons for establishing a foundation of drawing, value and composition. The demo will cover the method in detail.

Author and teaching instructor Mitchell Albala will host a lively critique of landscape paintings — a great way to start the painting season. Works brought in by attendees will serve as a launching point for an exploration into many topics, from color and composition, to simplification and technique. Mitchell's engaging critiques often include examples, live diagramming of composition, and other visual aids. Books will be available for purchase and there will be time at the end to get your copy signed.

SLIDE SHOW, Q & A SESSION and BOOK SIGNING
Village Books | 1200 Eleventh Street, Bellingham, WA 98225 | (360) 671-2626

Author Mitchell Albala will present a slide presentation that will give an overview of the special lessons in the book that are covered in a new ways, or have never been covered before, including simplification and massing, site selection, how value effects color identity, and the digital study. The 30-minute slide show will be followed by a Q&A period and time for signing books.
